6 February 2014

IT-project of VympelCom  (brand «Beeline)  - Mobile Quality Analyzer (MQA), aimed at conducting regular measurements of the mobile Internet quality, implemented by the system integrator Open Technologies, was named the best in the nomination «Best branch solution/telecommunications» during the competition in the field of information technologies «Project of the Year 2013» conducted by Global CIO.

The competition was held by the official Internet-portal of Russian IT-Directors - Global CIO from September 2013 till January 2014. According to the rules of the competition, all nominated projects were evaluated directly by CIOs through the Internet voting system. All in all the professionals had evaluated 130 projects, the best of which gathered 1600 votes.

The Mobile Quality Analyzer is based on the software Asimus Light by Qualinet Systems that allows you to receive custom characteristics of Internet quality and to carry out centralized analysis of the rendered mobile Internet services. Measurements are made on the basis of key quality indicators from the subscribers’ point of view: time needed for network access, availability, speed and continuity of connection.

Conducting of measurements is carried out by means of special mobile application installed in the smartphone with Android operating system. Every 5 minutes the jpeg  test-picture with the size of 1.5 MB is being downloaded (if at the beginning of the measurement process the smartphone is registered in 3G network) or 200 KB (if it is registered in 2G). Regardless of the region of Russia, downloading takes place from the centralized resource located in Moscow, through http protocol that allows estimating the quality of mobile Internet in real subscriber conditions. The results are saved in a database for further processing, creation of reports, charts and other analytical information. This information supplements the internal network monitoring and data received on outcome of drive tests, providing for a full-fledged analysis for effective planning and optimization of the network.

“The tool that we created gives us the real picture of customers’ experience of mobile Internet. Using MQA we have the real opportunity to look at the network through the eyes of our customers and to improve the quality of service exactly where it is needed most. High evaluation of this project given by IT-community proves the necessity and relevance of such a solution”, - states the Head of R&D Department of «VympelCom», Anton Savin.
